Making Old Wood Look Good
A Little Introduction.
The End Grain Woodworking Co. was founded in 2011 by two friends Chris Behm and Sam Constantine. Working out of a two car garage after work and on weekends, we entered our unique creations into the Detroit Re-Nailed Reclaimed Materials Competition in 2012 and won “Best-In-Show” and “People’s Choice” awards. The response was overwhelmingly positive so we reinvested our prize money into our growing business and quickly began to see our passions come to life.
The age and distressed condition of this material adds to the unique character of our products. We are proud to be a part of an industry that helps put people to work while offering a solution to blighted neighborhoods in Detroit.
Detroit provides us with not only the wood, but it adds a story to every piece that we offer. Our creations are made from lumber native to the region and was once used to house some of Detroit’s earliest residents.
Innovation & Design
Our creativity, dedication, and skill set allows for endless possibilities. We're proud that all of our one-of-a-kind creations are helping to revitalize Detroit as well as the surrounding communities. Each of our handcrafted pieces symbolize the beauty that can arise from the forgotten past.
Creative reuse of the built environment is not all we do...Each and every board we cut into came from a building that was once someone's home, office, or favorite place to hang out. The information found from the sourced material and it's surrounding cultural landscape helps preserve our region's past for future generations to come.
